Hi! My name is Shaun and I am a consultant at My Life My Choice.
Normally as a Consultant I am travelling around the country doing lots of different things
Since lockdown I have had to stop doing this but I’m still staying busy.
I’ve been in contact with the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, Anneliese Dodds. The Chancellor of the Exchequer’s deals with the United Kingdom’s money. Anneliese is the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer because her party, Labour, didn’t win the 2017 General Election. I’ve been speaking to her about helping people who are homeless in Oxford.
I’ve been going to meetings with the city and county council to make the one-way pavements in Oxford accessible for people with learning disabilities, those with physical disabilities and the visually impaired.
And recently, I’ve started going back to My Life My Choice’s Champions group because it is now online. We’ve been talking about how coronavirus has affected people with learning disabilities.
Since lockdown I moved to a new house. I am really liking it here.
I have lots of banter with my new carer.
I’ve been going on walks.
I am eating lots of different types of food. My favourite so far is pasta.
My new home feels very homely. Even though I have been here for a few months, it feels like I have been here for years.
There are lots of things I am looking forward to…
Stingray Nightclub is starting up online.
My birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I’ll be meeting up with my dad, who I haven’t seen since lockdown started, to celebrate it.
I am also looking forward to my city and county council meetings because I think it’s really cool to be working in a team which is made up of mainly people with disabilities.
